The idea of stage is a relatively new one, and it has yet to be defined. To date, it is still not a unit of measurement. This is still the case with the word “stage”.
Stage is a useful word, meaning anything in the middle of something else. When I was in middle school, we used the stage-right and the stage-left to represent the right and left sides, respectively. It wasn’t until I got to the adult world, however, that I started seeing the meaning of this unit of measurement. The left is the side you’re on, and the right is the side you’re facing.
Stage-right and stage-left don’t represent the same thing. They’re defined by the same rules. If someone has a stage left and a stage right in the same row, then they’re stage right and stage left. Stage-left is the left side of the diagram. The left side of the diagram is the side youre on. Stage-right is the right side of the diagram. They both stand in the same row.
When I look at a diagram, I see what I want to see. I can tell if I’m on stage-right or stage-left by looking at the diagram. The diagram tells me if I’m facing in the direction I’m looking, or the direction that side of me is facing. There are also two other properties that I can use to see whether my side is facing right or left. There are two properties that I can use to see if my side is facing up or down.
The left side of the stage-right diagram is the left side of the diagram. The right side is the right side of the diagram. If I have an arrow pointing in the direction I am looking, I can tell by looking at the stage-right diagram whether I am facing up or down.
A diagram in a book is like a picture in the same way that a photograph is like a photograph. If I can see it from my perspective, I can clearly see what the diagram is representing.

I don’t know what it is about stage right and stage left, but I’d like to point out that from the standpoint of stage-left, the right side of the stage-right diagram is the right side. The left side is the left side. This is why a diagram is like a picture in the same way that a photograph is like a photograph.
The right and left sides are like the halves of a picture, the left side and the right side are the halves of the whole, and vice versa. In the same way that one can look from the right side of a photograph and see the whole; one can look from the left side of a diagram and see the right side.
