I love the idea that you could sell a product in a generic way, without knowing the exact details. I would hope that you could actually make a money off the products that you are selling yourself. This is one of those things that is not even mentioned in the book.
This is something you will have to think about in your supply chain design. You may be able to sell things that way, but if you try selling things that way, then you will have to figure out why customers are buying items in a generic way and then you then have to figure out where to take your orders to.
