Technology brings more automation and efficiency to the workplace, which has many benefits. However, when it comes to business intelligence, the industry is still moving into a “human-centric” system. This means that the decisions and actions made by human employees are still critical. While this system is necessary, it doesn’t mean that decisions and actions made by humans don’t impact a company’s bottom line.
If you are the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, you are probably familiar with the traditional business intelligence systems. These systems are built for use by human employees, including managers. In fact, most companies use business intelligence as a part of their HR department (HRs are the people who make the hiring decisions, and are ultimately responsible for the career paths of both employees and management).
If you are in charge of a Fortune 500 company, you are probably aware of the amount of data your company gathers on sales, profits, employee morale, employee satisfaction, customer satisfaction, etc. You probably also understand the data you are being told to analyze.
Business intelligence is the process of collecting data from your vendors and customers’ systems to help you make better decisions. For a big company, this is a significant amount of data, which is why it’s valuable. You would think that this would be a non-negotiable part of your job description. However, according to a recent survey of HR managers, only half of HR personnel say that they use business intelligence as part of their duties.
This is a problem, because data from your vendors/customers is valuable and you can use this data to improve your company as a whole. But you get to only use this data if you know what you are doing. It takes time and effort to get this data right so you don’t put yourself at a disadvantage. You can use business intelligence to understand what your competitors are doing to your customers. It helps you to make better decisions on your website and products.
I use business intelligence to make sure my customers get good customer service. I use it to get my products in front of more people. I use it to get a lot of new business. I use it to know where I am good at. I use it to help me build a better company.
The way I see it, any company that doesn’t use business intelligence to help it create and optimize its own products has a lot to answer for. This isn’t to say that companies that don’t use this sort of information don’t work hard because you can bet that they do. But the way to succeed in the tech industry is to be able to do so much more than simply make money.
A company that knows where it is good at is a company that is able to move more quickly and stay ahead of competitors. You also need to know where you are not so good at to help you do so well. This is why I think of business intelligence as being sort of like a skill. I know how to make a drink, but I certainly don’t know how to make a plane. I’m guessing that someone with business intelligence can learn that skill.
I think you are right. Business intelligence allows a company to do so much more than merely make money. You can really get into the game of getting the best at what you do, and that is what I think of as the ability to use business intelligence to your advantage. It is not a tool that you can use to “win” at business, but it is a way to gain a competitive edge.
Business intelligence is one of the few ways that you can use business intelligence to win at the competition level. However, if you are doing everything you can to gain competitive edge, then you do it with the right tools and an educated mind.
